MALLORCA Travel Guide

MALLORCA Travel Guide

Mallorca or Majorca is the most important island within the Balearic Islands, that are a part of Spain and positioned within the Mediterranean. The native language, as on the remainder of the Balearic Islands, is Catalan, which is co-official with Spanish.
The capital of the island, Palma, can be the capital of the autonomous group of the Balearic Islands. The Balearic Islands have been an autonomous area of Spain since 1983. There are two small islands off the coast of Mallorca: Cabrera and Dragonera.
Geographically, Mallorca consists of a fertile plain sandwiched between two mountain ranges: the spectacular Serra de Tramuntana to the north and the Serres de Llevant to the south. The lowlands are bookended by the Bay of Palma – residence to the island’s historic capital metropolis – and the Bay of Alcudia.
Like the opposite Balearic Islands of Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera, the island is a particularly standard vacation vacation spot, notably for vacationers from Germany and the United Kingdom.
